The Global Bandwidth Forecast Service has been updated with fresh data, analysis, and functionality for Q3 2019.
What's New
The third quarter is a time when we often make some substantial updates. This time around was no exception. Major changes include new historical data, expanded coverage, and new features. Also of note:
- We completed our annual inventory of international internet backbone capacity this summer. Thus, 2019 values for internet capacity are no longer forecasts.
- We updated "enterprise and others capacity" for 2019 as well, as it's based on a relationship with the amount internet backbone capacity connected to a country.
- The share of sales that are lease or IRUs tend to vary a lot depending on the route, the specific cable, and even a given year. Based on interviews with market participants, we opted to adjust the mix to more heavily weight toward leases.
- Previously we provided forecasts of Europe-Asia, but we've opted to disaggregate this into Europe-South Asia and Europe-East Asia, as well as add in East Asia-South Asia as a discrete route.
