The Transport Networks Forecast Service has been updated for Q3 2024.
There are several notable changes this quarter:
Internet backbone bandwidth data for 2024. We completed our annual inventory of international internet backbone capacity this summer, so the 2024 values for internet capacity are no longer forecasts. As a part of the analysis, we sometimes revise historical data as well.
Internet backbone bandwidth forecasts. We refined the correlation used to forecast future bandwidth growth using the new 2024 data, and updated data on fixed and mobile subscriber numbers and data usage.
Enterprise and others for 2024. We updated this category with new 2024 data as well, as it is based on a relationship with the amount of internet backbone capacity connected to a country.
Price forecasts. We adjusted price erosion trajectories based on new market intelligence.
Addressable market size. We updated the addressable market size based on the timing and ownership of planned cables.
Supply exhaustion model. We updated based on new cable announcements.
