Our latest WAN Summit Singapore blended big ideas with real-world solutions as we heard from WAN experts across the globe.
In particular, there were some fantastic ideas shared for WAN managers in the midst of a hybrid WAN adoption. We cherry-picked some of our top tips/quotes/ideas from those who have done it all before (and lived to tell the tale). Watch 'em below.
Overheard during this panel: "The justification that we always try to find is that financial one. Is it literally going to reduce my cost per megabit? I think there's a lot of technology enablement out there...we can eliminate idle capacity in the network and move it onto the best performing link and do that with redundancy. That gives us better effective use of capacity."
- Alastair Johnson, Principal Solution Architect | Nuage Networks
Overheard during this panel: "Traffic patterns are changing drastically for enterprises. And this is where WAN transformation comes in. Instead of traffic going from the branches to the datacenters, a lot of it is going to clouds for SaaS and IaaS applications."
- Idris Vasi, Managing Director, Viptela APAC | Cisco
Overheard during this panel: "I think it's important to realize that SD-WAN is a system to make your life easier. It still doesn't get around the speed of light. It still doesn't get around congestion. We're fixing that in different ways."
- Brent Angus, General Manager, Networking | Dimension Data
