Senior Manager Jon Hjembo recently treated the Transport Networks Russia & CIS Conference to a virtual presentation on all things Europe-East Asia backbone transport, highlighting big developments and persistent trends in the region.

Consider demand growth.

Aggregate used bandwidth demand on the Europe-East Asia route has been increasing for years. And we see a sharp peak in growth around 2018, consistent with the launches of AAE-1 and SMW-5—cables that brought about a rapid drop in prices and a surge of demand.
