Africa Takes Center Stage at ITW 2016

TeleGeography returned to International Telecoms Week once again on May 9-11. The official event program, organized by Capacity Conferences featured two panels specifically dedicated to African connectivity issues, “Unlocking Potential in Africa: Keeping up with African Data Traffic” and “Africa Data Centers, Why Africa, Why Now?” Our analysts, Paul Brodsky and Patrick Christian, attended both discussions and found them a great supplement to information learned in private meetings. Here are our key takeaways from the event about the Africa market.

Connectivity Trends in Asian Markets

I recently attended the first BKNIX Peering Forum in Bangkok, where I presented on Connectivity Trends in Asian Markets.  The presentation covered international used bandwidth in Asia, submarine cable investments, as well as wholesale transport and IPT prices.

MVNOs World Congress 2016: Expanding Networks and Waxworks

My recent trip to Amsterdam to attend the MVNOs World Congress 2016 was a great experience, and yielded a lot of useful information. Attendance at the event looks to have increased from last year's event in Nice, France, in no small part because the conference program remains well thought out and featured contributions from a number of leading industry figures.

Meet TeleGeography @ ITW 2016

TeleGeography will be at International Telecoms Week in Chicago from May 8-11, 2016. This year, we've moved from a booth in the exhibit hall to a larger meeting room. Visit meeting room MR-4205 on the Gold Level of the East Tower at the Hyatt Regency to speak with TeleGeography's analysts and review our latest research, or schedule a private meeting.

Newton's Third Law of Telecom

I recently had the pleasure to deliver a keynote address at Carriers World Asia 2016 on the latest updates in the Asian Carrier Market. The presentation highlights key trends in Asian voice and data networks, covering the impact of OTT communication services on the voice market, regional bandwidth growth and the rise of private network share of used international bandwidth.

A New Submarine Cable Construction Boom in Latin America

TeleGeography recently traveled to Rio de Janeiro to attend Capacity Latin America, where I moderated the panel “Laying the Foundation – Building the Necessary Steps to Encourage Future Investments in the Latin American Region.” My colleagues and I had the chance to catch up with players across the submarine cable industry to identify the most important trends in the Latin American market. One of the key takeaways from discussions we had at the conference was the re-emergence of a submarine cable construction boom.

Stephan Beckert @ Interop

TeleGeography's VP of Strategy, Stephan Beckert, will be attending Interop in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 2-6.
